...© Copyright 2000 Doran Roggio Some of us are becoming old hand at the Internet.
Others are just starting out. In either case, in this vast ocean
there are stll many new discoveries as new sites and services continue
to flood the web. Improvements in technology and multimedia brings an array
of stimulating, fun, and educational happenings of which we can partake.
Just like the emergence of a new love, nothing
can describe the thrill of discovering a new computer trick, or
achieving a new accomplishment that enhances your whole computer experience.
I still get excited with each new feat or little shortcut I find and marvel
at the strides that technology has made affording fantastic services and
comforts, not to mention efficiency.
My daughter is in her sophmore year in college
majoring in commercial art. The other day she called me from school and
was excited like a little kid. She had just figured out that she could email
her assignments to herself instead of having to put them on a floppy disc
each time to transport her work to and from school. I felt a little
guilty that I had not shared this information with her. I had just assumed
that she knew. Of course her excitement was contagious.
I realized then that just because we have learned
some-thing and it seems simple and commonplace to us, there are myriads
of persons who are getting on the Internet for the first time and are
totally unaware of these simple tasks. All of us are in different stages of
our growth when it comes to our knowledge of computers and the Internet.
So if you have friends and relations who are just beginning their voyage
into the world of technology, share the little tricks and shortcuts, the
jewels of the sea, and get infected with their excitement. When someone close to us falls in love have you ever
noticed how their passion and excitement touches our lives in a
reminiscent way and we recall the sensations of those first exciting moments
of falling in love.
Help each other keep the thrill of discovery
fresh and exciting. The Internet is alive with things to explore. Our
computers and the Internet have brought the whole world to our fingertips
and we can taste and experience peoples and cultures as if we had gone on a
literal cruise around the world. And this cruise is affordable for each
one of us regardless of our station and we never have to leave our desk.
